🚗 Step 1: Wash Your Wheels Off
Give your tailgate a thorough wash to banish all that pesky dirt and road grime.
💧 Step 2: Dry It Like a Pro
Once the wash is done, it’s time for a drying session! Use a clean microfiber towel to zap away every drop of moisture.
🚿 Step 3: Metholated Spirits Spritz
Mix up a cocktail of metholated spirits and water in a spray bottle. Give your paint a spritz with this solution to banish any lingering waxes and oils.
🔪 Step 4: Cut the Crap (Optional)
Our film comes pre-cut to size, however in some applications you may need to cut the film to match the contour of your tailgate.
💦 Step 5: Activate the Adhesive
Whip up a solution of water with a splash of shampoo. Spray this magic mix on the adhesive side of the film. This makes it super easy to slide and adjust the film without it sticking too soon.
🎬 Step 6: Apply the Film
Place the film’s adhesive side onto your car’s paint, starting from one end and working your way across. Use a squeegee to smooth out any waves or ripples.
🚀 Step 7: Squeegee Out the Solution
With firm, overlapping strokes, use a squeegee to push out all the slip solution and any trapped air. Start from the center and move outward.
🔥 Step 8: Heat and Dry the Film
For best results, grab a heat gun and gently wave it over the film. This activates the adhesive and helps the film mold to every curve of your tailgate. Make sure the film is completely dry, especially around the edges and seams, preventing lifting or peeling.
